Emergency Service Challenge - TASC Donations

Everest Base Camp Trek - Emergency Service Challenge - 2023

We had planned to do this trek in May 2023, but unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the trek had to be postponed until a new date of 19th October - 5th November 2023. We have also added another trek which takes place from 24th September - 8th October 2023, where a smaller group will be going first!

We have gathered a team of nearly 30 willing volunteers who want to walk up to Mount Everest Base Camp to raise money for their chosen charities. There will be members from both the Police forces in the UK and the London Ambulance Service; these two blue light services are coming together to support their colleagues. You will see all members of both teams updating these pages next year.

We have chosen two charities to support with the funds raised by this event: Thin Blue Line UK (TBL) for the police and The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC) for the LAS. These two charities have shown us tremendous support so far, and we will try to raise as much as we can for them. Each charity has its GoFundMe page.

We are raising money and awareness for mental health and well-being initiatives for front-line emergency services. We have had an unprecedented two years with many colleagues staying in hotels, away from families and loved ones, for up to 6 months. Some are still suffering from the effects of Covid-19, and some have even paid the ultimate price for keeping the capital safe during the pandemic. Our staff are under increasing pressure as the cost of living crisis and budget cuts have increased their stress; we have seen a significant increase in referrals for those in crisis.

The original donation page that was set up for the trek can be found here; https://gofundme.com/emergencyservicechallenge. This page is no longer in use but the funds raised through it have been shared between Thin Blue Line UK and TASC.

Any more money from this point onwards will go into the individual pot on each of the fundraising pages below:

The Ambulance Staff Charity

Times are hard at the moment for the nation’s ambulance services.

A bearing first-hand witness to the devastation and pain caused by the Covid pandemic has left nearly half of all primary care workers with significant psychological stress. On top of this, the NHS continues to be under substantial pressure - a lack of funding and a reduced workforce means we are working harder than ever, and burnout is common.

The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC) is a national charity dedicated to supporting the well-being of the lifesaving ambulance community. They provide a range of services to support the mental health, physical rehabilitation and financial well-being of ambulance staff, students, and volunteers.

As a team of Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians from the London Ambulance Service, we are taking on this challenge to thank TASC for everything they have done for us. We hope to raise funds which will help them continue their fantastic work at a time when it is needed more than ever.

Thank you very much for even taking the time to read this, and if you can donate, however small, please do. Every little bit will make such a big difference in someone’s life.
