Emergency Supplies for NoCo Evacuated Livestock
Donation protected
Due to the massive impact of the Cameron Peak, East Troublesome, and CalWood fires in Northern Colorado, our fellow livestock owners are facing extended evacuations and loss of property/feed for their livestock. Barbara Grofe (local horse advocate) and myself (local horse owner) are teaming together in a fundraiser to cover the emergency supplies for evacuated livestock. Most immediately, this fund will cover needs the official evacuation centers (and impacted livestock owners) encounter, especially: hay, shavings, feed, medical supplies, and veterinary care due to evacuation. We are working closely with the official evacuation centers to pivot to needs as they arise. If you need help, or know someone who does, please reach out so that we can connect you with assistance.
Our neighbors, friends, and fellow livestock owners are living a nightmare, it is our hope that we can ease the burden on them slightly and improve the care these animals will receive in evacuation. Thank you so much for the generosity our community has already shown. I am so humbled and in awe.
The need is great, and we've set a large goal to be able to help in a multitude of ways. Funds that are not immediately used for emergency supplies will be set aside into a fencing grant that Barbara Grofe is currently working on developing. The goal for this more lasting support of livestock and owners impacted by these historically devastating fires will be to provide the means for people to maintain ownership of their animals and be able to provide adequate and safe corrals for horses or livestock when they can return to fire-devastated homes. Our goal is to keep owners with their horses, horses/livestock safe and healthy, and to support our community in the months to come as re-building begins.
