Emergency support for Erik, Jordan & baby Gio
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jane and I have created this page for my daughter Jordan, her boyfriend Erik, and my sweet new grandson, Gio.
After my daughter found out they were expecting a baby due in October, the initial joy was quickly turned into overwhelming fear and worry. Jordan was immediately declared a high-risk pregnancy and required prescription shots in her abdomen daily to prohibit early labor. This went on for some time, but then due to a delay involving insurance approval, several calls to the doctor and pharmacy, and a lot of time-consuming runaround, Jordan was unable to obtain the medication she was prescribed for two weeks.
On June 26th, the dreaded inevitable happened, and despite best efforts at just 25 weeks along Jordan’s water broke. With a lot of bleeding and confirmation of active labor, she was admitted into the hospital. The plan was to try to keep little Gio in the womb until 34 weeks. Jordan was told she would remain at the hospital on bedrest until the birth was safer. Again, things took a turn for the worst. It wasn’t long until, at 26 weeks, she began strong painful contractions. Due to Gio being breech, the doctor decided an emergency C-section was the only option to try to save him. Baby Gio is currently in the NICU. He is so tiny and weighs only 2 pounds. He’s been a little fighter and doing as well as expected thus far, as he is on a ventilator to help him breath. It is being estimated he will need to be in the NICU until October.
From the beginning, it has been one scary hurdle after another. This has been an extremely stressful and emotional time for the family. Erik has been responsible for taking care of everything, including their other two children at home. In addition to the everyday tasks, going to the hospital daily to be with Jordan and Gio has made it impossible for him to keep working his usual number of hours. Understandably, Jordan will not be able to go back to work until she has recovered from surgery. They visit baby Gio in the NICU several times a day and are trying their best to handle what comes. Even during hardships, life continues in every aspect and that is why I am writing this. Some financial assistance could do wonders for them right now. They still have two other kids to support and all of their routine bills to pay. On top of that, extra expenses are approaching with school starting next month, and since Gio came so early, they still do not have a lot of the things he will need when he comes home. There was no way to anticipate the course of events that transpired over the past few months, so things are just not ready.
Our family would deeply appreciate any donation you would be willing to make.
Whether or not you are able to contribute financially, we ask that you please pray for our baby Gio as he continues to fight for his life. My hope is to diminish some of the monetary stress on his parents, so that they can celebrate and focus on his birth and progress in the manner he deserves. He is a gift from above and all we want is for him to get strong and to get through this together. Thank you for you help.
