Emergency Surgeries for Lili
Donation protected
On November 7th the sweetest, most loving cat, Lili was acting very lethargic and vomiting, so we rushed her to Aspen Grove Urgent Care. After multiple x-rays and bloodwork they couldn't determine a problem but noticed that her small intestines were starting to bunch and recommended an ultrasound if she does not get better. After continuing to decline over the next 15 hours Lili was rushed to CSU Emergency Vet were it was discovered she had ingested a string that was wrapped from under her tongue all the way through her body to her small intestines. She was given a very small chance of surviving the surgery , and an even smaller chance of there being no complications.
The surgery went amazingly well and it seemed like we were on the mend. However, during her recovery she developed a very severe infection in the surgery site. On Saturday, November 12th, the infection site was opened back up and flushed out in an attempt to help the infection heal. Lili seemed to perk back up afterwards, eating and becoming more active. She was sent home to recover with us the next day after 6 days of staying in urgent care with an E-cone, many bandages over the open wound, and a red "sweater" to hold everything in place.
On Tuesday, November 15th, we noticed that her bandages were pretty soaked so she was taken back to CSU for a bandage change. During that time the surgeons discovered that her infection was not clearing up at all and took some tissue samples for a culture before sending her back home.
On Wednesday, November 16th, we noticed that her bandages were not secured and you could see directly in to the wound in her stomach. We took her back to CSU and were met with the worst news possible. The infection had eaten through her abdominal wall and her organs were starting to fall out of her body. She was rushed back in to surgery with the plan to cut out all the infected tissue, flush out her insides multiple times to try and clear anything left over out, and sow everything completely back up before pumping her full of a different, more aggresssive antibiotic for 24 hours.
I always told myself I would never start a GoFundMe because there was someone out there who always needed the money more than me, and that I would be able to find a way. I've started and deleted this at least 5x since last night. But we've run out of options. We've exhausted CareCredit and are maxing out our credit cards to save our baby's life. So this is me putting aside my pride and asking for help. We're up to around $13,000 in vet bills and despite both of us working a full time jobs and part time jobs on the side, we're having to pay for everything up front and are struggling. So if you find it in your heart to help it would be greatly appreciated. I can't get myself to ask for the full amount of the procedures as it is still our responsibility to take care of our Lili, but just some to help with these deposits and credit care payments would be more the enough. I will find a way to return the money/favor to every single person that donates once I am able to for helping to save Lili's life. After losing Ivan last December to heart failure and Lucky in August to cancer, we can't handle not giving everything we've got to save her. Thank you.
