Emergency Surgery for Mayra Zarate

**Update**(11/3/2020) We are frustrated, stressed and outraged about how the healthcare system works. We were given misinformation and were initially told Mayra had been accepted to USC in California and we were just waiting for a room to open up for them to transfer. Lie. In fact they were waiting for WellCare of Ga (her insurance) to send a payment contract to them in order for them to accept her. The contract finally made it to USC and they denied her because they only accept instate Medicaid. In other words they need to make sure they are getting paid in order to provide a surgery someone is in need of. Bullshit. Today we were explained by a doctor the whole situation after we had been asking for an explanation as to why they kept telling us one thing and another. He said a cardiologist is our best bet at this point. He had been off and he will be at the hospital tomorrow and he will be assessing her to make sure where the leakage to her lungs is coming from and then he will be able to know what he is able to do. The other option is for her to get transferred back to Ga and see what hospital/surgeon we can find that can accept her. The first thought was Emory but it is a private hospital and her insurance will not cover her. Unfortunately we do not have the money to pay out of pocket. Our best option at this point is the doctor that will asses her tomorrow. So once again we are back were we started. Waiting. Please keep praying for Mayra as she is stable right now but can take a turn at any point. She is in pain and they are doing everything they can to keep her stable and safe. Please gives us more patience and strength to keep dealing with all this frustration. Once we know what the doctor recommends we will update again.
