Emergency Surgery for Tommy Wiersma
Moving into our new home today should have been one of the happiest days of our life - it has quickly turned into one of the worst. Our little guy, Tommy, had a freak accident last night that sent us to the ER right as we were about to go to bed.
After some x-rays, what was originally thought to be a leg fracture has turned into a spinal cord injury that has left him unable to use his back legs. Unfortunately, some pricey tests and a surgery are needed to get him back on his feet.
We know there is a lot going on right now, and we are not ones to ask for help - but that is exactly what we need right now. Tommy is an otherwise extremely healthy 5-year-old who has a lot of life left in him, and Teddy (his brother)is depending on his partner to return to full strength in order to catch all of those pesky squirrels running through the yard.
Anybody who has talked to us in the past year knows just how excited we have been for this moment. Our home. Our family. Our next chapter in life.
During this difficult time, we would be very appreciative if you could help make sure this is the start of a beautiful new chapter and not the end of a story.
With love,
Tyler and Emily
