Our Stella Needs Your Help
Kirra, the boys and I are heartbroken to share that our beloved Stella has been seriously injured after being hit by a car out the front of our home.
Anyone who knows us knows that Stella is so much more than just a pet to us, she’s an important and cherished member of our little family.
Last night, somewhere between 7:30 and 7:45 pm, a food courier left our gate wide open instead of following clear delivery instructions. Stella got out and was hit by a car. Unfortunately, the driver that hit Stella didn’t stop to check on her. We are so thankful that passersby helped us get her off the road and into my car so we could rush her to the animal hospital.
Stella has devastatingly suffered major injuries, including a fractured pelvis and neurological damage that has left her back legs paralysed. She’s currently at ARH Veterinary Hospital, where she’s being monitored and is currently stabilised. She’s had multiple scans and X-rays so far, but she still needs an MRI to determine the full extent of her spinal and neurological injuries and whether surgery is an option moving forward.
We’re beyond grateful that she’s getting the best possible care, but the costs are already adding up. So far, her treatment - including sedation, pain management, and stabilisation - has reached $4,600, not including tonights stay and treatment. We have been advised that the MRI and potential surgery is likely to increase this bill to $15,000–$18,000.
We’ve been overwhelmed by the love and support we’ve already received, and many have asked how they can help. We’ve set up this GoFundMe for anyone who wants and is able to contribute. Any amount, big or small, would mean the world to us and help give Stella the best chance of coming home to us. We’re also looking into VetPay and other payment options to make sure she gets the care she needs.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out, it truly means so much to our family.
