Emergency vet bills for Bella

What started as a weekend in Stanley for a Festival quickly turned to the scariest moment of our life’s.

On Sunday us and our dogs woke up a bit after everyone else so we let the dogs run around for a bit before having to crate them at the cabin and head to town for the festival. We left around 10:30am and at that time, Bella was acting completely normal. The festival we were at ended at 2pm on Sunday(instead of 7pm on Saturday) and thank god it did.

Right at 2pm, My dad and Nate had to head back to the cabin to grab a truck and some other cleaning items to start packing up the festival. I decided to let the dogs out while we were there for a bit. When we went to let them out, Bella was not responding. He tried a few times to shake her awake and she didn’t react at all. He then tried lifting her head and realized she was drooling profusely and couldn’t move other than the severe tremors throughout her body.

Realizing we needed a vet immediately, My dad found out that there were no emergency vets open or available other than in garden city. We got in my car, left everything we had brought to Stanley (including Colt), and headed the garden city with my unresponsive Bella. Along the way, My car engine failed and we had to find service and get a hold of his parents to meet us in horseshoe bend so that we could attempt to get Bella to the vet. For at least four hours, Bella was tremoring, drooling and unresponsive. WestVet Boise took Bella in immediately as I walked into the building holding her. She had to have a breathing tube out in since she had stopped breathing with some medication, heavily sedated, and put on an IV.

Today, Bella has turned around and is mostly acting normal. We don’t know exactly what caused this but the suspicion is that she had found and eaten poisonous mushrooms.
