Emergency Vet bills for Leia
Donation protected
On Saturday May 27th Princess Leia made her way out the front door and started running down the sidewalk, my girlfriend Caitlin was chasing after her while I was grabbing a toy to come try and convince her to come. She stopped and looked at Caitlin and then bolted into the road. A truck did not even touch his brakes, just hit Leia and ran her over all while caitlin was watching. At this time I had ran outside to see where she was and saw her laying in the road and caitlin crying out. I ran into the road to find Leia whining and bleeding from her mouth and had a large gash on her side. I picked her up and carried her bloody body into the kitchen where I began to check all over her body for other problems. She would not stop howling and whining with obvious pain. We rushed her to an emergency vet clinic that was the only place open in San Diego on a Saturday night. They immediately started working on her and gave her pain medicine. Since then she has been in an oxygen chamber and diagnosed with bruised lungs, fractured hip and the obvious contusion on her side. As you can imagine the bills automatically started to pile up. It is estimated close to $12,000 by the end. She's the most precious sweet baby girl ever and I couldn't imagine losing her. I would want every bit of care I could possibly get for her and I do not want to have to worry about the financial stress. How can you put a price on a loved pet? I even hesitated doing this, but I feel like there is no other option.
