Be A Lifeline For #JournosInCrisis
Tax deductible
There are few fields where workers routinely face harassment, physical and online attacks, arrests, lawsuits, eviction, equipment theft and more – all simply for doing their jobs. And with growing threats against press freedom, female journalists often feel the brunt of these attacks. As if the trauma isn't enough, incidents are often accompanied by medical bills, legal fees, and other unexpected costs that can be devastating to a working journalist.
Our Emergency Fund is unique because our approach isn’t one size fits all. We fund cases based on a journalist’s real need - large or small. Thanks to our strong community and nearly 30 years championing for women in the news industry, we have become one of the first places that female journalists turn to in times of crisis.
However, in this current climate, we have received an overwhelming number of requests from female journalists in crisis and our Emergency Fund simply cannot meet the demand without your help.
Together, we were the lifeline for the reporter who came to us after she was blinded by a targeted attack years ago and at risk of losing her sight forever. And for the photojournalist who was beaten covering protests and robbed of her equipment, the only means to secure her livelihood. And the countless women who come to the IWMF after being sexually assaulted in the field.
Please consider giving $50, $75, $100 or more to help a female journalist out.
In this challenging media environment, it's something we all can do.
