Mi chiamo Samir Al-Omari e sono Field Coordinator per SRP (Solidarity Respect & Protect), una ONG locale turca con sede a Gaziantep.

Inizialmente ho creato questa campagna per aiutare Islahiye, una delle città più danneggiate dal devastante terremoto che ha colpito la Turchia la notte del 6 febbraio 2023. Nei primi sei giorni della campagna, abbiamo raggiunto il nostro obiettivo iniziale di raccogliere 10.000 euro. Di conseguenza, abbiamo deciso di riorientare il nostro progetto riconoscendo il grande aiuto umanitario che Islahiye sta già ricevendo da diverse organizzazioni internazionali.

Ora, SRP adesso è nei villaggi in tutta la regione di Hatay, dove il nostro aiuto è molto necessario. Tutto il denaro donato a SRP viene utilizzato per acquistare e distribuire non-food items, come pannolini per anziani/bambini, assorbenti, biancheria intima, biberon, e kit per neonati.

Siamo SRP: un'organizzazione umanitaria non governativa fondata nel 2017 da un gruppo di giovani e attivisti di comunità di diverse nazionalità, etnie e generi. Con un profondo impegno e comprensione della crisi umanitaria nella regione, SRP affronta i problemi di emergenza attraverso interventi creativi e ben progettati, garantendo soluzioni e approcci partecipativi, basati sulla comunità e guidati dal contesto.

Lavoriamo sia con i rifugiati che con le comunità ospitanti per superare gli ostacoli che impediscono e ostacolano l'impegno reciproco e la convivenza. Pertanto, SRP mira a promuovere i valori della pace sociale e della convivenza per raggiungere obiettivi di sviluppo sostenibile, giusta inclusione di tutti i gruppi, diritti umani ed emancipazione delle donne.

My name is Samir Al-Omari and I am Field Coordinator for SRP (Solidarity Respect and Protect), a local Turkish NGO based in Gaziantep.

I initially created this campaign to help Islahiye, one of the cities most affected by the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey on the night of February 6th 2023. In the first six days of the campaign, we reached our initial goal of raising 10.000 euros. Grateful that SRP continued to receive donations, we decided to re-orient our project by acknowledging the great humanitarian help that Islahiye is already accepting from multiple international organizations.

Now, SRP is engaging villages throughout the Hatay region, where our help is greatly needed. All money donated to SRP is used to buy and distribute non-food items like elderly/kids' diapers, pads, underwear, baby bottles, and newborn kits.

We are SRP: a humanitarian non-governmental organization founded in 2017 by a group of young people and community activists of different nationalities, ethnicities, and genders. With deep engagement in and understanding of the humanitarian crisis in the region, SRP addresses emergency problems through creative and well-designed interventions while ensuring participatory, community-based, and context-driven solutions and approaches. We work with both refugee and host communities to overcome obstacles that prevent and hinder mutual engagement and co-existence. Thus, SRP aims to promote the values of social peace and coexistence through building the capacities of societies to achieve sustainable development goals, just inclusion of all groups, human rights, and women’s empowerment, through community-led initiatives and locally-driven solutions by international standards and principles of human rights.
