Tom Underwood Medical Expenses & Missed Wages

Donation protected
Hey, friends! I am Lauren, and I’m here to ask for help for my and our Dad, Tom Underwood. Please read.

Our hilarious, fun and caring father is currently in the hospital fighting so hard to recover from what the doctors believe to be aspiration pneumonia.

He fought for days before being admitted at his worst. He lives alone other than the company of his well-loved pup, Willy. He likes to keep to himself and doesn’t want to worry everyone, but things got too awful to describe. The state we found him in was hellish. To spare details, once he was admitted yesterday, the doctor said Dad is “very sick”. They are still running tests to know more about what is wrong.

He is currently at Stillwater Medical in the ICU. He was intubated as of yesterday so he could get the oxygen he needs. He’s been heavily sedated since (plenty of fluids and meds are being administered as well).

He’s being watched around the clock by the kind, wonderful and helpful nurses and doctors at Stillwater Medical. Seriously, they have answered every question with great detail and have talked to Dad just like we have. We are so thankful.

We have been there, by his side, for most of the time he has been there. Only went home to rest.
We talk to him and cannot wait for him for to be able to respond.
We plan to play him some Jim Croce at some point today to make him feel more at home.

We do not know how long he will be in the hospital. We are just waiting right now. It’s a nightmare. He is a tough old man, but right now he needs all of the help he can get.

He has missed a week of work and depending on how things go, he may miss plenty more. He was already telling us how worried he was about paying his bills after having to miss so much. Not to mention it getting bad enough for him to be admitted, which of course he didn’t expect or plan for. He was barely coherent enough to ask to be intubated, but thank God he did.
He is mostly breathing on his own as of now, but we all know how unpredictable medical issues can be.

I am his oldest daughter and he also has my sister Meagan and her husband Joe. He has 3 granddaughters that adore him and asked to call and talk to him to help him feel better the second they heard he wasn’t feeling well. They have prayed, we will continue to pray.

If you’ve read all the way through my worried, sporadic ranting and emotional description… thank you. And please, PLEASE - he needs your help. Help us, help him. Any little bit you can spare will be greatly and gratefully appreciated.

His time here is not done. We believe that. And when he comes to, we want him to feel blessed beyond measure and not have as much to worry about financially.

Thank you in advance for any prayers and good vibes you send his way. Community matters. The village has the power to make an impact. THANK. YOU.
