Emily & Betsy go to Emerson

I know this is a terrible time to be asking for money, but as most of you know, Gar has been out of work for the past ten years, and I have been working several jobs to attempt to keep us afloat. And we’ve tightened our belts and downsized. Now Emily and Betsy are going to college. Emerson College is the perfect school for both of them. They are excited to be majoring in film, living in Boston, and experiencing new things.  They both got scholarships based not only on need, but on merit, but we still owe about 1/3 of the tuition per girl. They will, of course, get student loans, and are doing work study to help out, but there are lots of expenses attached to starting college in Boston – and Emerson has decided to open the campus with a combination of in person and virtual classes. Besides all the necessities for their dorm rooms – sheets, towels, comforters, mattress toppers (which are apparently a necessity at Emerson), lamps, wastebaskets, there are plane flights, both ways (twice), winter coats, boots, warm clothes, and many more things.

 

Even before Covid-19 and the SIP, and everyone out of work, we had planned to create a GoFundMe to help with the girls’ expenses. Again, I know things are tough all around, but with five out of the six of us furloughed or unemployed, things are especially tough for us. I have gotten to the point where I no longer am too proud to ask for help, especially when it is for my children. I know they are going to do great things in life (as are their brothers), and I want to give them every chance.
