Help Emily Beat Breast Cancer

Hi, my name is Ashley Dumas and my dearest friend Emily Collins was diagnosed with Stage iiib, triple negative breast cancer - invasive ductal carcinoma - at the young age of 37.
Emily just finished her second round of chemotherapy. She has 14 more rounds to go, followed by a double mastectomy and complete axillary lymph node removal, and 32 sessions of radiation. Treatment will take about a year if all goes well. The road ahead is long!
Emily’s family lives in Mountain Center with her mom Linda, fiancé Adam, and 3 beautiful babies; Vada (4), Jack (2), and Leo (8 months). Her treatments at the City of Hope are nearly 2 hours away. Emily and Adam are both blessed with great jobs (and great bosses!) and will continue to work throughout treatment, but the extra expenses are already piling up. I decided to create a gofundme to help offset the financial burden that her treatment is costing her family. The gofundme would be used to help pay for medical bills, travel expenses to and from treatment, childcare, and hotel expenses if the family needs to be near City of Hope.
Emily’s mom is a stage iv metastatic triple negative breast cancer survivor who has zero evidence of disease. When she received her diagnosis in 2017, she was told by her Kaiser oncologist that she had six months to live. Instead, she volunteered for a clinical trial at The City of Hope with an immunotherapy drug called Keytruda, and reached a complete pathological response. Her bravery helped Keytruda become part of the standard of care for future triple negative breast cancer patients, like Emily! The City of Hope saved Emily’s mom so our hope is that they will save our Emily, too! Emily has a great team of doctors that we trust wholeheartedly. God has a plan.
We thank you for your contribution and prayers. Let’s get our girl cancer free and back home with her beautiful children.
