Emily Chhun's Post Assault & Robbery Relief Fund

Emily Chhun was brutally assaulted and robbed at the Safeway parking lot in San Leandro (on 1499 Washington Ave) on May 11, 2022.
She had just gotten back to her car after buying snacks when the assailant, armed with a pistol and stick, opened her door and punched her in the face. She begged him not to kill her and just take whatever he wanted. He hit her on the head with his pistol immediately after and took her car/home keys, cash, cards, and ID, but upon seeing that she only had $50 in cash, he got mad and repeatedly hit her with the stick. As a result, Emily was knocked unconscious and is suffering from a concussion and a broken nose. Thankfully, a bystander called 911, and she was brought to the nearest hospital.
I'm starting a GoFundMe fundraiser on her behalf as she currently resides in California with no family members in the country and has little funds to cover the medical expenses needed for her recovery. Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated.
Please help us share Emily's story - Emily wants people to be aware that these kinds of armed robberies of people inside their cars are becoming more common and that everyone should lock their doors immediately after getting in.
