Help Emily go to her dream graduate school
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Elizabeth and I’m fundraising for my little sister Emily! Emily graduated from NCSU in 2023 and has since been working as a volunteer for AmeriCorps. She’s always wanted to pursue higher education in International Relations. She started her journey in applying to grad schools this year and while she’s always dreamed of studying abroad, she has been realistic in her search and applied to local institutions in North Carolina and on the Easter seaboard. But, who says dreams can’t become reality? She’s always wanted to study at the London School of Economics and Political Science. So she went on ahead and threw her hat in the pile just to know she didn’t cave into the fears of “it being impossible”. Well, I guess they saw just how amazingly qualified and passionate she was because she just found out that she has officially been accepted to the London School of Economics and Political Science!!! With this incredible news came joyful tears and lots of celebration with family and friends. But as many know, education is expensive and funding is not always the best. As I mentioned before, Emily has been working as an AmeriCorps VISTA Food Security Specialist. She’s been working with Wake Forest Community Table to build the capacity of the nonprofit, make sure everyone has a meal, and educating about the causes of food insecurity. While her work has been rewarding and her passion to work with her community has been fulfilling, she’s been living on a low paying salary to pursue this work. As some may know AmeriCorps is such a great organization but funding and salaries for volunteers can be very restricting, leaving many living on the cusp of the poverty line. Emily has been one of those people, but she’s persevered through the harsh realities of life that we all know too well. With all of this said, I’m here to ask for your help to support Emily on her journey in this once in a lifetime opportunity! Whatever you wish to contribute will go towards tuition, housing, arrival travel, food, utilities, and getting started in her first semester. Whether it’s $1, $5, or $10, anything will help her in this dream becoming a reality. If you made it this far I want to thank you for reading through her story and even if you cannot make any contributions that’s okay! Even if it’s to wish her well wishes or just resharing this gofundme, it will mean the world to myself and Emily.
