Support for Emily Henkel and Alex Lofgren's family
Donation protected
This fundraiser is for Emily Henkel and Alex Lofgren, as well as the Henkel and Lofgren families. After the disastrous events that took place between April 4-9, they are now facing mounting bills and an unexpected financial burden.
The funds raised through this campaign will be allocated to any and all expenses surrounding this tragedy.
In brief:
On the day Emily and Alex were expected to return (April 4th), their vehicle became disabled in a very remote area of Death Valley NP.
(April 6th) Authorities began an extensive search which was conducted over several days including multiple agencies, aerial efforts, and SAR teams.
(April 8) The couple’s Subaru was finally found with a note inside that read, “two flat tires, headed to Mormon Point, have three days’ worth of water.” They were located later that day using aerial reconnaissance, but rescue teams were not able to reach them.
(April 9) After a failed aerial rescue attempt, rescuers finally made contact with Emily and Alex. Rescuers, family, and friends were devastated to discover that Alex had suffered fatal injuries trying to make it through Willow Creek Canyon to the nearest road for help, and that Emily had suffered a severe foot injury requiring surgery.
The families of Emily and Alex want to extend their deepest gratitude for the well-wishes, support, generosity, and love during this difficult time.
