Suicide Awareness Fundraiser

I’m Emily Westberg, I am fundraising for my event as it will help with airplane travel, dress, makeup artist, and many more expenses needed for this pageant. My Pageant Platform is based on Suicide Awareness. Helping youth to adults in need of support. As a thank you to everyone that helped make this opportunity happen, I am willing to do appearances, interviews, parades and much more. Sharing a story of how I am involved in my community, there is a lot of people out there who struggle with suicide and are afraid to get the help they need. Here is the story that explains my platform. 60% of my funds will be going towards Suicide Awareness.

Earlier this summer I got an opportunity to go down to Memphis Tennessee this October to compete for Ms. United States. This is a huge deal for me. I have been doing some of my practice each day as long as I can, I am going to be connecting with my Coach soon to prepare myself for the interviews. My platform promise is based on Suicide Awareness in Youth and Adults. Here is my statement: Every 11 minutes across the US, a suicide is reported. On average about 132 Americans die of suicide each day, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US. About 90% of Americans had a diagnosable mental health condition at the time of their death. Most of the reports I’ve read up on, when a youth or adults try and reach out for help they can get turned away or get sent away to a different facility so the doctor does not have to worry about a bed being taken up. Mental health is a serious problem all around the world. There are many who feel unheard and misunderstood. Raising this money may help some people in need of help that they could not have gotten before. Any amount of money helps. In our world it has been a hard place to live in and many suffer and cannot get the help they so badly need. As your potential reign of Ms. United States I promise to thank my supporters that helped me take on this opportunity, by doing some special appearances, parades, and so much more! My plan is to open up a home for youth (as that is limited in Grand Rapids) and make a calm therapeutic environment for them including an adult home.
