Emily Mason, MPT, OCS 1976-2022
Donation protected
On Thursday, June 2nd, 2022, my ex-wife and mother to our two children, Emily Mason, tragically passed away at just 45, having suffered a stroke on April 28th and additional complications after that.
She is survived by her mother, Linda and father, Bill. Sadly, she also leaves behind our two children, Simon (15) and William (18).
In her 20+ years as a Physical Therapist, Emily was beloved by her patients and colleagues alike. She changed the lives of so many with her passion for helping people regain their independence after surgery, illness or injury. Her caring nature meant nobody who graced her presence had bad words to say about her. She enjoyed nothing more than passing on her love for PT to those who wished to follow the same path, becoming a mentor to many students and colleagues over the years.
A devoted and excellent Mother, she was always involved in the boys' sports and education and guided them along the right path. Simon completed his freshman year with a 4.0 GPA and played on the Water Polo team. The night before her passing, her brother Darren was able to sit with her and broadcast the audio of William's High School Graduation Ceremony, where he walked with honors with a 3.9 GPA and lettered at Water Polo, having been a part of the Championship-winning Varsity team. She will be looking down proudly on her boys and they will carry her legacy and example graciously through life.
On behalf of her entire family, including our boys, I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support we have received over the last six weeks. We cannot thank you enough because it has carried us through such a tough time.
At the request of many of her friends, colleagues and loved ones, I am setting up this fundraiser with several goals.
Firstly, the boys wish to have a Celebration of Life for Emily, as they both know that this is what she would have wanted. We want it to be open to everyone who wants to attend and contribute their stories, photos, words of remembrance, etc., so we will be finding a suitable venue to host this in the next month or so. Allowing some time to lapse will also help us make this the gathering she would have wished for. Once this is arranged, everyone will be welcome to attend, and we will be publishing the details here and via email, text and Social Media.
Secondly, we would like to cover some of the expenses of moving the boys and her mother, Linda, from the house they all shared with Emily and storing her items until the boys are ready to go through them.
Lastly, any remaining funds donated will go toward the boys' future education, as this was extremely important to Emily. We already had plans to cover their future education jointly. William will be commencing his Engineering degree this fall at Cal State University Fullerton, where he already has a place in Dorms.
No donation is too small and will be used to take care of those she loved and for us to celebrate her life and legacy. I can also be reached directly via phone, mail, email anytime.
Thank you again for everything,
Gordon Mason
