Gone too soon. It is tragic for a family to lose some one so young. My family is not only dealing with heartache, but deepened questioning and anger. Emily should not have been taken from us and was, due to negligence. Emily was driving in an unfamiliar backroad area. She was approaching a very dangerous intersection not knowing that ahead, the main stop sign was broken and not visible. This single stop sign that could have saved her life, ended it instead. Numerous neighbors and passerby’s called to report the stop sign being down since this intersection was so dangerous and accidents have happened before even WITH a visible stop sign. Emily drove thru the intersection and was hit by a commercial dump truck. The impact took most of her life almost immediately. She held onto her soul the best she could, fighting to stay alive. Emily passed shortly after being rushed to the hospital. This could have been anyone. It could have been your mom, your sister, your father, wife, husband, or child. 

Emily was taken from us on May 13 by an accident that did not have to happen. 

We will fight for negligence tooth and nail to get justice for Emily and our family. 

Emily is my sister. One of four girls. The youngest, and taken too soon. 

I ask that everyone come together to not only be aware of what happened, but to help my family cover costs to give them one less thing to worry about.

Em’s Obituary 

22, of Canton earned her "fairy" wings on Thursday, May 13, 2021. She was born October 9, 1998 in Massillon, Ohio. Emily was an old soul and had a heart that accepted everybody. She had a love for nature and animals.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roger and Patsy Patterson; grandfather, William Fales Sr. and uncle, Roger Patterson Jr. Emily is survived by her parents, Shelly and Rory Patterson; sisters, Rachel Patterson (Kyle Pelger), Sarah (Colin) Komazec and Meghan Patterson (Dwaine Beadnell); grandmother, Linda Fales and soulmate, Anthony Callen, as well as an endless list of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her beloved cat, Giselle as well as Puppie, Maggie, Kylo and Nugget.

Daughter. Sister. Friend. Emily. 

You are a story that was meant to be finished. The book of your life may not be long, but it is rich. Your pages are filled with bursting colors and descriptive words you can almost taste. Tales of late nights laughing, early mornings dancing, and whispers of things not yet spoken. Each page turned will tell a story of a free spirited girl who gave more love than most can dream of. We will each carry your story through the many years of our lives. Pages will turn yellow, the spine will bend, and the smell will weather. You will age just as you were meant to. We will read your memories loud for all to hear. With coffee stains and scribbled notes. Each of us writing ourselves into your story. Dad will carry you in his pocket. Mom will have you close to her heart. Your sisters will share you with children of their own. Teaching them that sometimes the best things never last. To love unconditionally and live as if each moment is fleeting. Your story may be short, but it is not over, for each day we will write you a little more, a little longer. You are the book we will never close, and forever we will love you, until we meet again.
