Emily was a loving mother of modest means to her daughter Sue. A first generation American and fiercely proud of her Slovakian heritage, she survived polio as a child, and the loss of her husband when Sue was young. She grew up in Philadelphia and spent her later years in Doylestown, PA.

Even with a lifelong disability from polio, nothing could deter her from providing for Sue. Emily became a single working mother, proudly working as an administrative assistantat at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital until her retirement in 1997. Even after retirement and relocation to Doylestown, her work ethic compelled her to continue working part time. But that wasn't enough for Emily, as she became a mother figure and mentor to Sue's friends and countless animals - especially cats.

Emily had been ill for several months and relied on Sue. As a result Sue has been unable to work, as expenses continue to pile up. Emily passed away on Sept 28, leaving Sue to carry on alone. We are asking for financial help for Sue who is now in danger of losing her house because of the financial strain.
