More information about Orygen: Reduced the impact of mental ill-health on young people, their families and society.Orygen is the world’s leading research and knowledge translation organisation focusing on mental ill-health in young people.At Orygen, the leadership and staff work to deliver cutting-edge research, innovative clinical services, and evidence-based training and education to ensure that there is continuous improvement in the treatments and care provided to young people experiencing mental ill-health.Orygen develops knowledge, and synthesises that knowledge with other learning from researchers and clinicians around the world to contribute to service development and broader policy discussions, as well as further research, in youth mental health.This work has created a new approach, and constructive attitude, to the prevention and treatment of mental disorders, and new models of care for young people with emerging disorders. It has been translated into a world-wide shift in services and treatments to include a primary focus on getting well and staying well, and holistic health care models that include partnership with young people and families.In particular, over these five years Orygen’s key activities are to:1. Create knowledge: Establish in Australia the world’s leading youth mental health research platform, linked with a network of emerging international centres, that discovers better tailored and targeted interventions for young people experiencing mental ill-health.2. Apply knowledge: Establish the world’s leading youth mental health exemplar service system in Melbourne that provides young Melbournians with access to the highest attainable standard of mental health care and provides a model for national and international replication.3. Share knowledge: Establish the world’s leading youth mental health training service to develop world-class skills and knowledge in the youth mental health workforce in Australia and establish an extensive international youth mental health professional development network.4.
