Matthew 28:19-20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father , and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am, with you always, even unto the end of the world.”
Emily’s Missionary Journey to Go, share her faith and teach others about Jesus.
Emily needs your prayers and financial help!
My name is Leisa and I met Emily Guinn at Jonas Ridge Baptist Church. Our women's ministry encouraged Emily to pursue God's calling and she began her missionary journey. Emily is 19 years old and grew up attending Jonas Ridge Baptist Church, located in Jonas Ridge, North Carolina, in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. She began her missionary journey two years ago when she went with a team to Guatemala and shared Jesus with children in a small village. She then went to Honduras. During that time of sharing Jesus, she answered God’s calling to be a full time missionary. She has since gone to Nicaragua and most recently to Ethiopia.
Emily has a heart to serve and do mission work in Africa. She had planned on going in 2020; however, due to COVID-19 her plans changed. She understands that God changed her plans for the season to go back to Kona, Hawaii to serve as a staff missionary at the ‘Youth with A Mission’ (YWAM) in the disciple training program that she initially had attended prior to her last mission trip in to Ethiopia. YWAM is an organization that teaches people to know God and for them to grow closer to Him. Then to make God known to all nations, and so this is both parts of a Discipleship Training School (DTS).
She will be there for around two years, but still plans on going to Africa in the future. God definitely showed her that she is called to go to Africa long term, but she sought God’s will and understands that before she can go somewhere long-term, God wants to teach her more things in Hawaii before she can go out. She prayed about going to engage in Hawaii and felt at peace with her decision to go and staff. She left Sunday, August 2, 2020, to go to Hawaii for two years as a staff. In addition to staffing and teaching in the DTS, she leads the students in outreach mercy ministries. Since COVID-19 banned international travel, mission opportunities this fall will be in two locations, one in Las Vegas and one in Texas. She will be leading a team with another leader of five students. They will plan and coordinate for the students for six days out of each week as they get one day off. They will partner with churches or with people that will help the students learn about preaching and giving testimonies, to allow the students to learn how to tell people about their stories and what it looks like to work with a ministry. They will be able to do mercy ministry and evangelize to people whatever God leads them for about 2 1/2 months. They will have a week of debriefing where the students will process everything and tell all the testimonies that happened on outreach and then the DTS students will go home and lead as God has called them.
Emily requests help from people that feels led by the Lord to sponsor her monthly and cover outreach ministry travel expenses while she is on her journey. She is very appreciative of any donation no matter the amount as God will use it for the upbuild of His Kingdom. Her cost of living is $400 a month to live on base. She will be staying in Kona for the next 2 years. She has to buy her own food and everything that is essential while living on base. She serves on the campus such as in the kitchen, helping out on the grounds or working in the café that’s on base. She has to raise her own funds. She looks to God for His provision as she has strong faith in God and that God will provide for her.
If you’re unable to help her financially would you please pray for her as she travels on Friday, October 16, 2020, and continue to pray for her and the students as they grow and learn how to share their faith in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I invite you to share your email with Emily to read about her mission work in her monthly newsletters of how God is moving and changing people’s lives.
Thank you and May God Bless you!
