Dear Family and Friends:
Last week I was chosen to volunteer on a Student Conservation Association (SCA) Tuition Based Crew.
The SCA places young people, age 15-19, in national parks, forests, cultural sites, and urban green spaces nationwide. This is an amazing opportunity to work side-by-side with National Park Service Rangers to improve our Nation's greatest treasures.... our National Parks.
I was offered a 28 day assignment (June 13 – July 10) repairing trails in Denali National Park, in Alaska. The entire cost of the trip is $4,000 ($3k in tuition to the SCA, $700 for airfare from Atlanta to Fairbanks, and $300 in back-country camping gear).
The SCA Denali trip is a tuition-based volunteer program. Participants are responsible for paying a tuition to the SCA, and they are responsible for their own gear and travel arrangements to their assignment location.
I am trying to raise the money for my airline ticket, my gear, and part of my tuition, and I am hoping you can help with a $10, $20, $50, or even a $100 donation. No amount is too small, and all donations will be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you! I really appreciate your help! Donations can be made either online by credit card, or offline by check.
Sincerely,
Emily McGarr
