My trip- Medical care in Guatemala
Donation protected
Hello! I am a first year graduate student in the Nutrition and Exercise Physiology program at Washington State University Spokane. My passion is nutrition and I plan to work as a clinical dietitian upon completing the program, with hopes of traveling outside the U.S. to work in countries where malnutrition is rampant.
I recently received the honor of being selected to join an inter-professional team to travel to Zacapa, Guatemala to provide medical care through the Hearts in Motion organization http://www.heartsinmotion.org/.
Our team, consisting of other nutrition/exercise physiology students, speech and hearing students, and nursing students, will be aiding a medical team with the purpose of cleft lip and palate repair surgeries. Our roles will include assisting at the surgery center and nutrition center and providing general health education to the people of Guatemala.
I am absolutely thrilled to have received this opportunity! Your contribution will give me the unique experience of providing high impact health care to a country that desperately needs it. Your donations are tax deductible and anything helps. Thank you!
