It has been 18 years since I I lost my sister Emma to anorexia. Throughout her struggle it was extremely hard to find support. Even today the options are not vast. According to BEAT (Beating Eating disorders), there were 725,000 people affected by an eating disorder in the UK in 2015. It affects everyone, even girls and boys as young as 6 years old...
In Emma's search for support she was lucky enough to find 'Freed Beeches' in Worksop,Nottinghamshire. This charity was a fantastic source of support. 'Freed' offers counselling, various therapies and support for schools and community centres. It is a free service with wonderfully dediacated staff. For Emma Freed was a much needed light in a mass of darkness and we are eternally grateful for them. There are so many people fighting what feels like a hopeless battle. My wish is that they can find support and hope.
Keira was just 2 weeks old when Emma passed and never got the chance to know her. Now that she is older, she wants to do something to remember her aunt and help other sufferers of eating disorders, as I do. On Sunday 24th November, we will be running the festive 5k at Sherwood Pines. We will also be dressed very festively ☺️. We would love it if you could sponsor us. All donations received will obviously go to 'Freed Beeches’ and we will be collecting funds until a week after the event.
I hope you will support this wonderful cause. It would mean the world to myself and my family.
Thank you and Happy Holidays.
