Emma Glagau to rep Canada at U21 Beach Worlds

Hi, my name is Emma and I am raising funds to represent Canada at the U21 World Beach Volleyball Championships that will take place in Thailand, Nov. 8-12th, 2023.

Myself and my partner Ruby, won the National U21 Beach Championships at Asnbridges Bay, Toronto in Aug. of this year. This title gives us the priviledge and honour to represent Canada on the World stage.

Ruby and I are not foreign to this stage. In 2021, we represented Canada, also in Thailand, at the U19 World Championships as 16-year-olds. We finished strong in 5th place (top Canadian finish). In September of 2022, we once again represented Canada at the U19 World Championships in Turkey, where we brought home the bronze medal, once again, the top Canadian finish.

The privilege to represent one’s own country at this level of competition brings much pride and responsibility to a young athlete as myself. The lessons learned, obstacles overcome, and life experiences acquired has molded me not only into a better athlete but also a stronger individual.

I have used these experiences to broaden my world view, to share my experiences with my peers and the younger generation, and to inspire others to follow their dreams and enjoy and learn from the journey while doing so.

I am now a freshman at Texas Christian University as a beach volleyball athlete and I appreciate how blessed I am to be Canadian. Throughout my beach volleyball travels it is beautiful to see how loved Canadians are all over the world.

However, as beach volleyball is a self-funded sport, I am seeking your help to once again send me to Thailand to rep Canada at the U21 World Beach Volleyball Championships. The money raised will be used for flights, hotel, food and the necessary training and equipment.
