Emma Joy's Journey

My name is Kenzie McCann, and my very good friends Kait and Matthew Schneider had a beautiful daughter, Emma Joy. Matt and Kait had been trying to conceive for almost a year when they found out their prayers had been answered. They were beyond excited for their future family. Kait's pregnancy was going well, and she was enjoying every moment of it. They went in for the routine 20 week ultrasound and were planning to have a surprise gender reveal party a few days later. The day of the 20 week ultrasound is when everything changed. They were told there was something wrong with their sweet baby's brain and heart. Matt and Kait were filled with many emotions. They prayed for a miracle and put it into God's hands. Emma Joy arrived via C-Section on January 27, 2022. She is absolutely beautiful but has a long battle in front of her. Emma is going to need heart surgery in the next few days to keep her aorta from closing. She will also need brain surgery to insert a shunt and remove some of the fluid. Once these immediate surgeries occur, Emma will still have a long stay in the NICU. Emma will have many appointments and hurdles to conquer throughout the first few years of her life. With these appointments, Kait and Matt will need to take time off of work in order to be there for Emma while she fights for her life. Medical bills will also be compiled over the course of this journey. Emma Joy and her parents need our help in order to lessen the financial burden.
