Emma Perkins flood support after sewerage flood

Please help raise funds for Emma Perkins after the devastating damage to her home following flooding caused by sewerage. Insurance only covers so much, and this beautiful human is experiencing an immense loss following this catastrophe.

The picture is of Em in Fiji on 16 July... enjoying a family holiday to celebrate Mum's 70th and Mum and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary. She didn't know at the time of the disaster that was happening back at her home.

Em lives on the ground floor of an apartment building. While she was away, the plumbing in her building somehow became blocked... forcing her toilet to overflow with sewerage. On every neighbour's flush, more sewerage would pour into her apartment, sending urine, faeces etc.. into her apartment. You can't begin to imagine the damage this caused after 4 days and no one at home to attend to the problem immediately. Em's apartment was flooded with inches of human waste, reaching every corner of her home.

It's anyone's nightmare- your home covered in human waste and fermenting in the biohazard caused by human waste. Your clothes, your mattress, everything in the pantry, the prints on your wall? As a result, almost all of her belongings have been written off, need to be destroyed, or should be.

She is insured, so significant items and structural damage should be repaired after a long and inconvenient journey to having everything resolved and replaced. However, what's written off as no value are many items deemed as no value and/or the sentimental.

Those who know Em will know her to be an amazingly kind and caring person who puts others' needs before hers. She is being strong and stoic about the flood, however this naturally is a VERY tough time for her. It would be for all of us. What makes it even hard is that she had just finished renovations and has begun a new job. So she already has a lot on her plate.

I'm hoping those of us who know and love Em can get a little fundraiser to give her a little extra budget for things that insurance won't cover, which will help her during this terrible time. No matter how much or little you can afford, everything is appreciated. She will never ask for this herself- the reality is that this will leave her massively out of pocket, and I'm hoping through this Gofund we can make this a little easier for her, even just financially.
