Emma Saunders Farewell Fund

On Wednesday 19th July 2023 huge hearted local Emma Saunders, born 18/03/1984 passed away suddenly, at home after a gruelling journey of battles in hospital.
Not quite 40 understated Emma was determined not to leave behind her amazing children, Callum 14 and Katie 13 nor her incredible partner Sean as she put up battle, after battle, after battle with her health.
On the forefront of it Emma presented as the quiet type. Those that were lucky enough to get to (really) know her knew she was far from quiet! With a wicked sense of humour she once joked, on a bike ride with family friend Sharon Mansfield (when Callum fell in the river with his shiny new bike) - he’ll dry off.
Whilst in intensive care at Princess Alexandra Hospital, keeping it jovial I said during a visit ‘Now behave yourself and don’t be disappearing anywhere’ to which Emma replied ‘chance would be a fine thing’. Even then despite being on the most critical floor of the hospital she managed a giggle!
Often bypassed as a ‘quiet one’ private Emma had many, many friends and was totally a community woman! Although she never, ever showed off about what she did nor spoke loudly about it she was not only a special needs teaching assistant but also a carer at Ashview Care Home. Emma was always at the centre of care for the locals!
Partner Sean, local refuse collector for the surrounding postcodes, also a massively integral part of the community is understandably totally pained at his loss. Stating recently ‘she was my rock, my everything’.
A Brighton girl at heart, Emma left the seaside favourite around 2006 but she loved to take the kids back to the water on fun filled caravan holidays, not least with her life long partner Sean of 22 years and counting of friendship and love!
With little provision for her premature departure and a whole future to think about for incredible Boys High student Callum and amazing Herts & Essex student Katie we hope that you, the local community will come together and give back a snippet of what this family has given us!
Help Emma get the service she deserves AND wouldn’t ask for, as well as a lovely family holiday to Brighton for this deserving family.
The family appreciate your support but also their privacy at this time as they come to terms with the sad loss of their leader of the pack. A truly inspirational family! People of Hertfordshire let’s show some unity!
