Emma's fight with MS

"When the fear of asking, stops you in your tracks”
I want to thank every single person who has given time and energy to remind us that life’s challenges, sometimes need a village. With this encouragement, I find myself trying to build one that will stand with us on Emma's life-changing medical journey.
As some of you probably know, my sister, Emma, recently got diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and really needs our support.
In October of 2022, Emma started to notice her balance becoming problematic. She was walking into walls and doors and felt unsteady on her feet. November 4th 2022 she woke up not able to walk, stand and was extremely sick. She was shaking uncontrollably and could not see. When she went to the hospital where she currently lives they brushed it off as anxiety. She lived the next month struggling to walk and had to be put on work restrictions which ultimately cost her her job. Over the next several months Emma would lose her balance, fall, not be able to get out of bed and had weakness in her body. She continued to go back to the hospital with the last time being serious where she fell, hit her face and lost consciousness, they did an MRI, after looking at the results, Emma was referred to a neurologist in Southwest Colorado and he diagnosed her with MS. Emma has at this time had 12 MS flare ups that we know of since that first initial MRI. They also found a mass on Emma's brain that is not due to the MS. She now has to go to another specialist in Northern Colorado for another MRI and further testing to find out what that is.
Emma is a single mom to two beautiful kiddos and works full time at a job that has worked with her restrictions, it is not the job she always wanted but it helps pay the bills. With the travel for medical appointments, the cost of the treatment she must be on for the MS, doctors appointments, medical procedures and normal day to day life I am asking for financial help for my sister.
The Cure for MS
There is no cure. In the US, with varying outcomes, there are treatments that aim to slow the progression of the disease, but there is no cure and even with these treatments, her MS will continue to progress. In a currently unknown timeframe, her body may start to deteriorate; her mobility, along with her sight and speech, will become more impaired. We can only imagine what the future holds for her and her young family. Emma cannot currently take the recommended treatment course and is on a lower dose of the medication due to the unknown mass in her brain. We are hoping that after her next MRI in January we will get answers as to what that is and if it will be effected by the medication she has to take to slow the MS.
Emma has had a lot of tragedy and happiness in her life like most. She went to college for massage therapy and found a passion for it. She currently cannot do what she went to school for because of this.
Emma does not ask for help. She tries to get up each day motivated to handle whatever life throws at her but I feel she needs help with these expenses.
I want you to know just how amazing my gorgeous sister Emma is, she truly is a beautiful soul & I want to help her and her family through this difficult and uncertain time. She has overcome many obstacles in her life and is facing this head on. She continues holding on to her faith and love of her kids.
If you are able, please find it in your hearts to help Emma afford her medical appointments, travel and medication.
Whether you are able to donate or not, please share this link with as many people on as many platforms as you possibly can to share her story.
If we are lucky enough to exceed the necessary target or have any funds left over Emma will be donating those funds to others in the same position as her.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for reading and sharing Emma's story - for her, her family, her friends, her quality of life moving forward & her mission to make this a much easier process for others suffering with MS.
