Emma Recovery Fund

Donation protected
This is our 20-month old daughter Emma Joy. On August 18th, she was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. Our nightmare started 4 weeks ago when I was changing her diaper and noticed a hard lump next to her belly button. My heart sank. After a STAT ultrasound and CT scan ordered by a pediatric surgeon, a solid mass sized 2"x2" in the lower right quadrant tested positive for Rhabdomyoscarcoma. We are heartbroken and scared. Treatment can last up to a year.

Cancer is a scary monster. Matt lost his dad to cancer four years ago. I lost my mother to cancer a week after my 22nd birthday.  We are determined and exclaim: NOT THIS TIME CANCER!!!

We are hopeful the mass has not spread  and are in the process of further testing. She will undergo surgery to have a port placed in her abdomen and will then begin week-long inpatient chemotherapy rounds with 2-3 weeks recovery for 12 weeks. Once the tumor has shrunk to an operable size, it will be removed.  She may require additional chemotherapy and radiation.

I will be taking unpaid leave to care for Emma. With a large portion of income no longer coming in and minimal vacation time available, we will be maximizing all of our resources. But we know the next year will be very tough financially.

All funds raised will go towards Emma's medical care and recovery. We are incredibly grateful for any help or prayers you have to offer. Thank you!
