Emmanuel Christian Men’s Home (Ravendale)
Tax deductible
I am Toni McIlwain, a grassroots community leader. Come join me in helping to raise money to keep Emmanuel Christian Men's Home up and running.
Here's a little bit what I am fundraising for:
Emmanuel Christian Men's Home
A large home that provides the men (participants) with methods to recognize and overcome their behaviors which prevent them from experiencing healthy growth and development in their lives. There are five men that are involved in the program. The men in the home play a part of the success by contributing their time, talents and resources to the betterment of the community. Each of the men that are in the home split the lease payment and utilities, chores and some of the products that are needed for the home. Three of the men are working a job making it possible to lease the space. One is on disability. Our goal is to acquire the upstairs unit so that we may be able to accommodate other men that are waiting to be a part of the home.
The upstairs will also be used as an office, provide leadership training, computer training and programs, such as a business that each man can participate and assist in develop projects that can help the men eliminate the barriers that prevents them from moving forward. My husband minister with the men every Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m., there is also a bible class held at the home every Wednesday at 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. The home is located on the Eastside of Detroit in a neighborhood giving them an opportunity to participate in outreach activities.

She was acknowledged with the "1000 Points of Light" award from President Bush in 1990 for her efforts and service to "help solve our nation's problems".
Toni also received the Achievement Against the Odds Award from the Woodson Center in Washington, D.C. from actor James Earl Jones, becoming the first Michigan resident to receive this award. She has led or served on various task forces for state and local government agencies to make positive change for people of all races and backgrounds.
