Hello Friends!

Emmie is my 1.5-year-old golden retriever who was recently and devastatingly diagnosed with a mast cell tumor in her mouth, with a small spread to her lymph nodes. She is everything a golden is expected to be and more; she is sweet, funny, very playful, can have a little bit of an attitude, she has a lot of energy and spunk and a lot of life left to live. My husband and I want to give her our best shot at a long life as the first furry family member we have had.

Since moving from Maine to Maryland and then Pennsylvania, she has solidified her place as our family's best dog-friend and companion.

We are taking all the steps to get her better. We have applied for assistance with funding and scholarships, but unfortunately, due to the high volume of applicants, acceptance for these scholarships is not promising, though we will keep trying!

My husband's military career keeps him very busy, and my full-time wedding photography business gives me the flexibility to provide care for Emmie.

In addition to full time wedding photography, I have started to offer dog-boarding on Rover (a very recent addition and effort) to help offset the costs of Emmie's vet bills.

We are expecting our first baby girl, due at the end of March. Pregnancy, while a blessing, complicates some of our options (chemotherapy, for example, requires that Emmie and I be separated or find alternate care, as per the radiation oncologist, pregnant women are not advised to be administer chemotherapy drugs because of their chemical properties) and limits what jobs I can physically carry out beyond what I am already doing.

Emmie's treatment cost thus far is around $3,000.00, and future treatment cost is projected to be in the $7500 range, but truthfully, even if we don't reach this go-fund-me "goal," any amount of help would ease the burden of her bills.

We do not want any of our friends, family, or strangers to feel obligated to contribute; however, we would be grateful for any small amount that could help us treat and put Emmie into remission and prolong her life.

Emmie has an appointment on Tuesday Feb 8, 2022 at 9 am to grade her tumor via CT scan and biopsy, and then will need to wait two weeks to recover before beginning radiation therapy.

I have attached just one of the bills we have received in the past few weeks for verification that this is a legitimate need.

Please know if you are unable to give, that is entirely okay; we would still appreciate your prayers and good thoughts and hope for Emmie, as well as shares or links in bios (@ instagram) or any form of sharing.
