Empower a Community Leader's Sustainable Future

Donation protected
Eleven years ago in 2013, I moved home to help make my hometown a healthier city through wellness by opening Live Cycle Delight (LCD) Detroit's first cycle studio. LCD wasn't just about fitness; it was about creating a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of their background or fitness level.

In 2015, two years after being sidelined for 58 weeks due to a bike accident, I was back to launch the LCD ride series. This inclusive bike series rolled out of Capitol Park every Tuesday. The series quickly became a community staple, bringing people together through the joy of cycling and exploration of Detroit. As our community grew, so did our offerings. I opened a second studio dedicated to the practice of yoga, recognizing the vital role it plays in mental health and overall well-being. Over the years, my team and I had the privilege of empowering thousands of metro Detroiters to achieve their health and fitness goals.

Even as we navigated the challenges of the post-pandemic world, we rebuilt the LCD community with a renewed focus on giving back. Through LCD Cares, we prioritized employing and mentoring youth in the community, ensuring that our impact extended beyond just fitness. While we eventually had to close our doors due to the sudden and dramatic changes in the fitness landscape, I am incredibly proud of everything we achieved with the LCD brand. Our journey may have come to an end, but the impact we made on the lives of so many in Detroit will always be a source of pride and fulfillment.

Now it's time for my next chapter - a rebirth! This winter, I will be joining a globally diverse cohort of students to complete an international MBA in the Netherlands. My passion for sustainability drives this next step, and I couldn't be more excited to live and study in one of the world's most sustainable cities.

My homecoming led me to the cultivation of community events that fostered movement, walkability, small business development, and entrepreneurship. This not only impacted our community but served as a model for sustainable urban development in Detroit. This experience has led me to pursue sustainability consulting, where I aim to merge my decade-long expertise in entrepreneurship, equality, and wellness with my commitment to creating sustainable business practices. In the long term, I hope to influence policy that supports small urban communities like Detroit.

Now, I am asking for your support as I embark on a new journey abroad. As I prepare, I ask for your support to help me evolve into a better version of myself—so I can create an even greater impact in Detroit and beyond. Over the past seven months, I have been working tirelessly to make this dream a reality, but I need your help to get to the finish line. In the coming weeks, I will be hosting a communal donation ride series that start and end at women-owned businesses in Detroit (details below). Your participation and support in these events would mean the world to me as I begin this new adventure. If you are unable to join a ride but feel moved by my story and impact on community, your donation is still greatly appreciated.

I am deeply grateful for the incredible community we’ve cultivated during my time here and for my LCD family, who has consistently shown up for me. As I close this chapter in Detroit, I’m thrilled to do so in the same way I began nine years ago: outside on a bike, surrounded by community.

Thank you for being part of my journey—past, present, and future.

Here are the communal ride dates, business, and areas.
