Empower Asher with a Life-Changing Service Dog

Donation protected
Hi there,

My husband and I would like to tell you about our amazing son, Asher. After a traumatic birth resulting in meconium aspiration, Asher was left with brain damage to the motor centers of his brain. At 1, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and dystonia. Asher is now 5 years old and despite the cards he has been dealt, he is the happiest kid you will meet. Asher cannot walk or talk on his own but walks great in a gait trainer and is learning to use a powered wheelchair. Although he cannot speak on his own, he is extremely smart and aware and is currently learning how to use an eye gaze communication device. Asher struggles with motor and mobility as a result of his injury. Our dream and the reason we are starting this fundraiser is to be able to get Asher a service dog. We believe a service dog will greatly improve his quality of life and independence.

We have done our research and have found an amazing breeder

Mobility: Assisting with moving from a wheelchair to a bed or toilet, pulling a wheelchair, and helping with balance.
Safety: Alerting a parent if Asher needs attention, recognizing and responding to a medical emergency, and helping Asher feel safe in public places.
Daily tasks: Helping with dressing, grooming, bathing, opening doors, turning light switches, and retrieving items.
Social interactions: Helping Asher feel more secure in public places and facilitating social interactions.
Independent living: Assisting with developing independent living skills.
Therapy: Being integrated into Asher’s structured therapies and relaxation.
Communication: Responding to hand signs and Asher’s nonverbal communication and also responding to Asher using his communication device.
Calming: Providing calming pressure across Asher’s lap or body.

This dog would completely change our son’s life for the better and there is no one more deserving than he is. The cost of the service dog and the training is 25K and includes all of the immunizations certifications and microchip. Asher was given a hard life but this dog would make his life easier and as a parent, that’s all you could ask for your child.
