At Brown Books and Paintbrushes, we believe that every child deserves to exist securely within their community. Our mission is to affirm and empower children by providing them with the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. We are dedicated to offering free, high-quality literacy, art, and toys that reflect the identities of Black children, ensuring they are seen, treated, and celebrated as children.

Our Goals

Secure and Supportive Community: We create a space where children feel secure and supported within their community. Our programs affirm their identity and build their confidence.

High-Quality Resources: We offer free access to high-quality literacy materials, art supplies, and toys that mirror the identity and preferences of Black children.

Safe and Educational Technology: Children can interact with technology in a way that is both safe and educational, fostering their curiosity and learning.

Family Learning: We provide a space where families can learn and understand the importance of freeing Black children from societal constraints and stereotypes.

Mental and Physical Well-being: We prioritize the mental wellness and physical well-being of children, ensuring they have access to the support and care they need.

Nutritional Support: We ensure that children have access to nutritional foods and clean water, supporting their overall health and development.
