Empower Chris's Recovery: Donate for Bioness L300
Donation protected
On October 12, 2024, my boyfriend, age 48, suffered a stroke leaving him with left-sided hemiparesis. For the last 5 months he has been working tirelessly to get to the point that he can walk again. One thing that is impeding this is the tone in his foot that causes his foot to roll resulting in him landing on the side of his foot causing him to be unbalanced. Through this journey we have seen and experienced the amazing technology that assists with recovery. One of those assistive devices that can help him gain the ability to walk independently again is the Bioness L300 Go System. This is a wireless leg-worn device that uses electrical impulses to the nerves in the leg and stimulates the muscles to lift the foot.
Chris has met with and demoed the brace, and it allowed him to walk by himself with a hemi-walker. The initial cost for the brace and electrodes is $5,790, with a recurring yearly cost of $260 to cover the electrodes. Unfortunately, even though this device has been approved by the FDA since 2017, this devise is still considered “experimental” by his health insurance so he will have to pay out-of-pocket for the device. This is a small price to pay for the independence it will give him; however, with him losing 50% of his income now that he is transitioning to Long Term Disability as he recovers this expense places a significant financial burden on him.
Every day I witness his strength and determination. I see the pain he is in and am amazed at how he is taking this detour in stride, so if I can help relieve this burden from him so he can continue to focus on his recovery it is the least I can do.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts whether you can make a donation or just keep Chris in your prayers that he continues to make improvements.
