Empower Dutch Leadership: Support Our Summit Participation

We are Elena and Martin. Elena is a PhD student in plant bioinformatics at the Wageningen University & Research. Martin is a PhD student in biophysics at the Delft University of Technology. We are the co-managing directors of Nucleate Netherlands.

# Background

Nucleate is a registered non-profit with the mission to empower the next generation of life science leaders by educating today's academic trainees. Since its formation in 2019, Nucleate has made great strides. We now have over 1000+ volunteer leaders in 28 different cities all over the world. Our Activator program has helped support the formation of 78 companies that have collectively raised over $320M! All what we do at Nucleate, we do as volunteers. Here in the Netherlands, we have assembled a leadership team of 8 students across 6 cities. We are already busy at work building free and open access programs for life science students across the country.

As Nucleate, we also host a global Summit. The event brings together an international community of alumni from our programs, student leaders from our chapters, general biotech enthusiasts, as well as sponsors. The 2023 Alumni Summit in San Diego was a resounding success. With over 550 attendees from 14 countries and 22 sponsors, we built long lasting bridges within regional, national, and global biotech ecosystems.

# Purpose

This year, we are excited to share that the 2024 Alumni Summit will be taking place in the beautiful redwood forest of Santa Cruz, August 27th - 29th. It will be an unique opportunity to celebrate the current Activator cohort (which has a record-high 162 teams) as well as our growing alumni network.

This is where we need Your help. Being volunteers, we don't have the means to finance the trip. Yet, participation at the global Summit is essential for community building, professional development and ultimately the success of our Dutch chapter. It is thanks to it that we will be able to deliver educational programs that are of the highest relevance and quality.

By contributing towards our air travel cost to attend the Summit, it's You who furthers the mission of empowering the next generation of life science leaders by educating today's academic trainees.

# Fundraising Goal

Both Elena and Martin secured funding for accommodation costs for the duration of the Summit. We aim to raise additional funding to cover air travel expenses. At minimum we ask for support with $2000. Donations exceeding $2000 will enable additional members of our leadership team to participate in the Summit, further advancing Nucleate Netherlands' mission and enhancing their professional growth.
