Supporting Girl Child Education

We are coming to you on behalf of the 60th Anniversary Committee of Archbishop Porter Past Students Association (APPSA) of Archbishop Porter Girls’ Secondary School (APGSS) in Takoradi, Western Region, Ghana, West Africa.
In 2025, our esteemed institution will proudly celebrate 60 years of providing exceptional girl child education.
As we reflect on our journey and accomplishments, we are keenly aware of the pressing need to improve the infrastructure that supports our students' growth and development. Specifically, we have identified a significant challenge: our current Assembly Hall, built in 1968 with a seating capacity of 700, is no longer sufficient for our thriving school community.
Over the past 58 years, APGSS has experienced remarkable growth, currently catering to 3,017 students—a staggering increase of 7,442% since its inception. This growth, while a testament to our school's success, has rendered our assembly hall inadequate. Not only does it fail to accommodate our entire student population, but it also hampers the sense of unity and fellowship among our students, as they must be divided into smaller groups for various events and gatherings.
Moreover, the current Assembly Hall is in dire need of renovation, with outdated infrastructure, limited ventilation, and inadequate accessibility and exits, posing safety hazards and affecting the overall well-being of its users.
To address these pressing issues and provide our students with a suitable space for education, religion, culture, and social activities, APPSA has undertaken the ambitious task of building a 4,000-seater multi-purpose auditorium. The estimated cost of this project is Ghc37,939,752.14 (approximately USD3,300,000.00).
We are reaching out to you all who share our commitment to girl child education and community development. We kindly request your financial support to turn this vision into reality and make a lasting impact on the academic lives of our young ladies.
Your generous contribution will not only help us overcome our space limitations but also foster a sense of unity and pride among our students, enabling them to congregate, learn, and celebrate their achievements in a safe and conducive environment.
Thank you for donating now to support girl child education.
