Empower ESL Students Through Radio Tales

Still Waters in a Storm presents New Arabian Nights , a series of radio stories based on the ancient tales, written and read in class by students of English as a Second Language (ESL) in New York state (Brooklyn and Poughkeepsie, and more to come), beginning in the year 2024. The readers are seeking asylum in this country, and they’re running out of time.

As their stories progress and proliferate, you will hear them progress in the English language, their doorway to a whole new world.

The $15,000 raised by this GoFundMe campaign are to be used in the following three ways: 1. $5,000 to pay our sound designer, Mahdokht Mahmoudabadi, for her work on the radio show, which is the public dimension of the class, our ambassador in the world. The series, by helping students to share their stories widely, in their own voices, attracts support for the ESL program. 2. $5,000 for classroom rent and studio time. 3. $5,000 for tech equipment, books, printing, stationery supplies, transportation, and food.

This campaign covers the fourth quarter of 2024.
