Empower Evie: Support Her Sports Wheelchair
Donation protected
Evie is a 12-year-old girl who loves to cook, craft, and play sports! She was born with spina bifida and uses her wheelchair full-time and was adopted from China in 2016. She is kind and helpful, courageous and sweet, funny and sassy.
Evie has been learning martial arts at Cunningham’s Ugottawanna Martial Arts for 6 years. In 2023, she earned her adult brown belt and started her role as an assistant instructor in the Jr’s class. She also joined a local Special Olympics team, PORTA Power, and competes in basketball, softball, and track. She has participated at both the regional and state levels, earning multiple medals along the way. She has been using her everyday wheelchair through all of this. While this does allow her to move and participate in each of these activities, it is not designed to participate in martial arts and other sports activities. Regular wheelchairs are heavier, less agile, and generally not intended for sports use.
It would be amazing for Evie to have a sports wheelchair to participate in these activities. This would allow Evie the ability to participate more fully, be more active, and pursue her passion of fully participating in Martial Arts and Special Olympics.
