CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION AND ADAPTATION USING INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE
Prolonged droughts and erratic rainfall have become increasingly severe in Arusha, Tanzania
specifically in Longido and Monduli where the Indigenous and Pastoralists dwell, resulting in significant impacts on public health, livelihoods, and the environment.
Indigenous and marginalized communities, particularly those relying on agriculture and pastoralism, are disproportionately affected by these climate-induced challenges. The rapid disappearance of green pasture and areas for food crops to dry cause massive livestock death by starvation.
MAIPAC is eager to empower Indigenous and marginalized communities to combat climate change by integrating traditional knowledge with modern practices, promoting sustainable land management, and enhancing resilience to drought and extreme weather events.
MAIPAC will facilitate the implementation of community-led adaptation projects, such as tree
planting, afforestation, and sustainable energy initiatives. Both documenting and preserving Indigenous knowledge related to climate adaptation, such as traditional farming practices, water harvesting techniques, and ecological wisdom will also be done in order for it to be shared with other communities experiencing the same traumatic issues. Indigenous knowledge and practices offer valuable insights for developing climate-resilient solutions that are culturally appropriate and sustainable.
Join us in this urgent mission to protect the environment and empower vulnerable communities in Arusha.
Your generous donation will make a tangible difference in the lives of countless families and help safeguard our planet for the future 50,000 USD.
