For the past 20 years, I’ve been on a journey that has taken me through the highest peaks of euphoria and the deepest valleys of despair. Living with bipolar disorder is like walking a tightrope, trying to balance between extremes, never knowing when the wind will shift and send you spiraling into chaos.
I was first diagnosed in my early years of adulthood. At the time, I had no idea how much this condition would shape my life. Over these two decades, I’ve been hospitalized several times, each visit a stark reminder of the fragility of my mind and the unpredictable nature of this illness. Each episode felt like a storm, tearing through my life, leaving me to pick up the pieces and start over again.
Throughout these years, I’ve made mistakes—some small, others monumental. The weight of those mistakes often feels unbearable, but I’ve learned that dwelling on them only adds to the burden. Instead, I’ve chosen to view them as lessons, each one teaching me more about myself and this condition. These experiences have given me a wealth of knowledge, not just about bipolar disorder, but about resilience, self-compassion, and the importance of support.
One of the most difficult aspects of living with bipolar disorder is the stigma. The world often doesn’t understand what it means to live with a mental illness. There is a pervasive misconception that we are defined by our condition, that our lives are nothing more than the sum of our episodes. This couldn’t be further from the truth. We are more than our diagnosis—we are dreamers, creators, leaders, and friends. But without understanding and support, it becomes harder to show the world who we truly are.
This is why I created Bpolair. After years of struggling in silence, I realized that I couldn’t just sit by and hope for change. I needed to be the change. Bpolair is my way of creating a world where mental illness is not just tolerated, but understood and supported. A world where people like me are given the tools we need to thrive, rather than just survive.
Bpolair is not just for me—it’s for everyone who has ever felt the crushing weight of stigma, for everyone who has been dismissed or misunderstood because of their mental health. It’s for those who need a safe space to heal, to grow, and to realize their full potential.
My vision for Bpolair is to build a community that embraces wellness and mindfulness, using tools like music, dance, and yoga to help people reconnect with themselves and find balance in their lives. I want to provide the kind of support that I needed during my darkest times—the kind that lifts you up, rather than pushes you down.
I know I’m not alone in this journey. There are countless others out there who have faced the same struggles, and many who have used their experiences to make a difference. To those who have spoken out, who have used their platforms to raise awareness and fight stigma, I want to say thank you. You are the reason I have the courage to share my story today.
Now, I’m asking for your support. Together, we can build a world where mental illness is no longer something to be hidden or ashamed of, but something that is met with understanding, compassion, and care. Your contribution, no matter how small, can help turn this vision into a reality.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Thank you for your support. And thank you for believing in a world where we all have the chance to thrive.
