Empower Native Alaskan Youth

Would you be willing to partner with me in my opportunity this summer to learn from, serve, and empower under-resourced youth in Native Alaska? I am looking forward to volunteering again at Bible Camp in Unalakleet, a small village in northwest Alaska, for two weeks this summer May 25th - June 6th. I will be fundraising approximately $800 for the flights there and back.

Located in the remote corner of the world, this faith-based summer camp is simply known as Bible Camp. They serve around 400 campers each summer (mostly from indigenous villages throughout Alaska) ages 9-25, and several hundred more adults throughout the year. I will be overnight counseling for their preparatory and highschool weeks. This will be my third and (most likely) final time serving as counselor and worship leader (as I will be completing my social work internship next summer), though I am certain these relationships will last long after.

I currently work part-time as a behavioral therapist providing care for children with autism, and am studying part-time for a masters of social work from Loyola to become a mental health therapist. In my free time, I have been investing in my music, recording and performing both solo and with friends.

I am passionate about this upcoming trip due to my experience in faith-based camp counseling, my mental health background, and the healing power of music. I am excited to be back to reconnect with my youth and friends. Many Native Alaskan youth come from broken families and are exposed to domestic violence, alcoholism, and suicide, and several will talk about how Bible Camp is the only place where they are told that they are loved. I would be deeply grateful for any financial support you are willing to give at this time to contribute to this ministry.
