Empower Puppies Behind Bars: Support Service Dogs
My name is Todd Vollmer, and I am reaching out to you on behalf of Puppies Behind Bars Inc., a nonprofit that is transforming lives through the bond between humans and dogs. This organization trains incarcerated individuals to raise service dogs for wounded war veterans and first responders, as well as facility dogs for police departments. Each puppy enters the prison at eight weeks old and spends about 24 months with their raiser, who learns valuable lessons about responsibility, empathy, and community. This program not only provides a second chance for those behind bars but also for the heroes who have given so much for our safety.
Funds are urgently needed to sustain this life-changing program, which directly impacts both the puppies and their raisers. Your support will help us:
- Provide veterinary care and nutrition for the puppies
- Offer training resources for the incarcerated individuals
- Ensure ongoing support for the veterans and first responders receiving these service dogs
By donating, you are not just helping dogs; you are fostering a culture of rehabilitation and connection. The impact can be seen in the stories of those involved, like John, an incarcerated individual who found purpose and hope through raising a service dog, and Mark, a veteran who received a dog who has changed his life. Together, we can make a difference that resonates beyond the prison walls and touches the lives of countless individuals.
