Empower Sarah in Her Fight Against Burkitt Lymphoma
Donation protected
Over the last few weeks, our sweet Sarah got the news that no one ever wants to get. Sarah was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma. BL is a type of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and is a very rare, and extremely aggressive and fast growing cancer that typically affects children. It is 3-4 times more likely to affect males than females and accounts for only 1% to 2% of adult lymphomas. Burkitt Lymphoma is a cancer of B-Cell lymphocytes (white blood cells). In people diagnosed with BL, these cells multiply to form tumors, and because the lymphatic system is a large network of organs, tissues, and vessels, this cancer can affect many different parts of the body.
Sarah will start her chemotherapy immediately, and has a series of doctor’s appointments and tests to get through before her first treatment. Her chemotherapy will consist of both outpatient and inpatient sessions with hospital stays between 2-8 days.
Unfortunately, Sarah does not have access to any kind of short-term disability, and her medical insurance has a high out-of-pocket deductible. She has been written out of work by her doctor for 5-6 months, and because she does not have access to short-term disability, once her PTO runs out, she will have no income coming in. The last thing our girl needs is to be stressed about the expense of all of this.
We've calculated how much she will need to pay rent, utilities, and living expenses over the next few months, in addition to the amount needed for her medical deductibles, and are asking for any help that anyone can give! No amount is too small, and if you can't give, please SHARE SHARE SHARE!! Your thoughts and prayers are also much needed as Sarah navigates the unknown road ahead.
