Empower Seda Karakaya's Educational Journey

Donation protected
Meet my friend Seda Karakaya, a resilient artist and disability rights advocate from Turkey, who faces life's challenges with determination and hope. Living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 2, Seda navigates life with her wheelchair, shaping her journey through courage and creativity.

Since childhood, Seda has shown a keen interest in language and art, expressing her inner world on paper and forging a deep connection with creativity. Despite the physical hurdles she encountered in school, Seda remained undeterred, persisting with unwavering determination. Despite SMA, she achieved remarkable success in her education.

Last year, Seda graduated with honors from the Russian Language and Literature department, leading the Disabled Students Association and advocating for disability rights throughout her university years. Through various internships, she gained international experience, culminating in her groundbreaking internship in Germany as the first severely physically disabled Erasmus intern from her university.

Recognized for her dedication to disability rights advocacy, Seda's voice resonates on international platforms. She showcased her art as a guest NFT exhibition artist at an international conference in Bucharest and participated in a 5-day Erasmus training program on disability rights in Denmark.

Currently, Seda eagerly anticipates embarking on her master's journey in Linguistics at Heinrich Heine Düsseldorf University. However, Karakaya requires the backing of philanthropists to secure the financial aid essential for herself and her primary caregivers (mother and brother) to support her, enabling her to pursue further education in Germany. This assistance is vital for covering the necessary one-year living expenses required for the national visa for her education.

The biggest reason she wants to pursue a master's degree in Germany is the awareness, opportunities, and accessibility for disabled individuals there. With progressive muscle disease, she seeks a more comfortable and accessible life for her future.

Join Seda Karakaya's journey as she pursues her dreams with passion and resilience. Your support will enable her to continue her education and advocate for disability rights, inspiring others to overcome obstacles and embrace hope for the future.
