Empower Trent: Please Help Fund His Speaking Device

A 9-year-old student of mine named Trent is in need of some help. He was born extremely premature. He had a stage 3 & 4 brain bleed!!! He has Opitz-Frias  syndrome, a cleft palate, is missing the roof of his mouth, and has autism. Because of this he is unable to speak. He is very smart and tries to communicate by bringing you to what he wants. He received a special iPad with a talking program in it. It's called Able Care. I started training him on it, he was doing really well. He was very interested in using it to communicate. I had to program it to things that were significant to him. His special needs and words etc.

He was catching on quickly. After two or three weeks, I was told it had to get sent back because his insurance had lapsed. His parents were unaware of the lapse and are trying to get it rectified with an appeal, usually a long process. They had to cancel a neccesary ear surgery. He has a feeding tube. The special food he needs to eat is about $100 a day. His glasses, which is a crazy Rx., and those too are now coming out of pocket.

      His speaking device costs $4,995. His parents and I know how much he needs this. We we're going to try to work out a payment plan, with monthly payments. However the company does not allow that. it must be paid for upfront. That's where your love, kindness and generosity comes in.

      He is really a sweet and funny little boy. The thought of his device being taken away, and him losing his new found ability to commumicate, something (we all take for granted), is just really sad. He has already come so far, and has gone through so much. It's such a joy to watch him grow!!! Until/if his insurance is reinstated Trent's medical expenses with be unbearable. We are only trying to raise enough for his speaking device. His family is very faithful and are counting on God to get them through, the other challenges
