Hello, I’m Yannick Favre—a farmer, biologist, writer, inventor and proud owner of Sunset Hill Farm NC LLC. I was born in 1988 in Saint-Claude, a picturesque town in the Jura Mountains of France. Growing up on my grandparents’ dairy cow operation, I developed a deep appreciation for the land and all living things. My wife, Meredith, is an entomologist who shares my commitment to nurturing a balanced ecosystem that supports both crops and beneficial insects.

From Jura to North Carolina

Over the years, my work in plant science, research, and development has taken me from the French countryside to state-of-the-art laboratories in North Carolina. I’ve worked on everything from tissue culture and biotechnology to practical, hands-on farming at local organic farms. These experiences taught me the power of science-driven agriculture and the importance of community-focused sustainability.

Today, Sunset Hill Farm spans two plots in Jura and two in North Carolina (Cary and Chapel Hill). We specialize in:

Seasonal Vegetables – Grown with the utmost care for the soil and the environment

Fresh Fruits – Harnessing the natural sweetness of each region’s climate

Cut Flowers – Bringing color and joy to homes, events, and local businesses

Nursery Plants – Helping other farmers and gardeners cultivate their own sustainable plots

With Meredith’s entomological expertise, we’ve created a farm ecosystem where crops and pollinators thrive together—proving that science and tradition can work hand in hand to feed both people and the planet.
